Eecient Pcs Call Setup Protocols

چکیده
Increasing demand for wireless mobile communications, coupled with limited network resources, has motivated investigation into alternative e cient mobility management solutions. In this paper, we consider wireless PCS call setup protocols. We propose a Lightweight Location Lookup Protocol, which signi cantly reduces the network signaling and setup delay during call setup. As an alternative, we extend the Reverse Virtual Call Setup technique of [6] and propose a Reverse Connection Setup protocol that also performs e cient call setup, while minimizing the cost of failed call attempts. The two new protocols have di erent advantages, in particular when combined with location management techniques including HLR/VLR, HLR/VLR with partial replication, and HLR/VLR with caching. We study combinations of call setup protocols with location management techniques and compare their performance. Both analytical and simulation results are presented. Loss Probability Evaluation of PCS Call-Terminating Control
In a personal communication system (PCS), a scheme for reforwarding call-terminating setup messages (SETUP messages) from a network or a cell station is used to guard against their loss. We have developed a method for evaluating the loss probability of a reforwarding scheme in which the network monitors the response messages from a personal station after forwarding a SETUP message to that perso...
متن کاملA distributed control strategy for wireless ATM networks
Cellular networks are expected to be upgraded to offer Personal Communication Services (PCS). The mobility management and wireless call control approach used in cellular networks are currently being proposed for use in PCS networks. Recent work indicates that both the signaling load and database update rates caused by these mobility management and call control procedures will increase significa...
متن کاملInteraction of Call Setup and Resource Reservation Protocols in Internet Telephony
In the Internet, call signaling, security association and resource reservation are handled by separate protocols and likely traverse different paths. However, for reliable service, the three functions may need to be coupled during call setup. We describe and compare several approaches to coupling, based on either single-phase setup or two-phase setup mechanisms. Our discussion is based on the S...

Shared LAN is presently the most widespread networking technology, due to its extremely low cost and favourable cost/performance ratio. Clusters of Personal Computers (PCs) leveraging shared 100base-T Ethernet may currently ooer the best price/performance in parallel processing. Most numerical parallel algorithms make heavy use of collective communications and especially barrier synchronization...
متن کاملEfficient Signaling Algorithms for ATM Networks
ATM provides a connection-oriented model of communication. Each conversation between two end-points occurs over a virtual circuit. All cells for the same conversation flow along the same virtual circuit. For the circuit to be established, a call setup process is initiated by the source host and run over all intermediate switches in the path, as well as the destination. In the current ATM standa...
